The Cat in the Hat – Dr Seuss

The Cat in The Hat

The Cat in The Hat

An American cartoonist and writer Dr Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel) mostly known for his story “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” has published 49 children’s books.

One of the Beginner Book series published by Random House was The Cat in the Hat. This series of books was oriented towards teaching children reading at an early age.

The story sounds rather enthralling. One cold wet day a mother leaves two young children unattended. The brother and his sister weren’t too happy – they got bored soon. And what happens when you’re bored beyond belief? Of course, the cat appears and makes a rainy day bright.

Bump! And he was standing on the mat. This was a very strange car. He carried a blue umbrella (it was raining, you remember?) and was wearing a white and red-striped tall hat and a red tie.

It’s a great activity book for children. The pictures and hilarious rhymes help children to learn to read.

Reviews

This children’s book is so simple to read. Using rhyme and repetition is nothing short of a genius – it works a treat for children 4 – 10 years old.

My son is delighted at the discovery of Dr Seuss’ rhyming words. The cat in the Hat is a great classic book.

What a tremendous book. My daughter of 4 years wants to listen to those rhymes again and again. She has learnt The Cat in the Hat by heart already.
